Coating a built up roof can be one of the cost effective ways to fix roof leaks and extend its service life.

Choosing the correct Built Up Roof Coating

If your built up roof is properly sloped and does not pond water (which is very rare), our EnergyMax® Acrylic Elastomeric Coating or EnergyGuard® Acrylic Elastomeric Coating is a good choice.

For the majority of built up roofs out there with minor ponding water and birdbaths, we recommend EnergyGuard® Butyl Elastomeric Coating, EnergyGuard® Silicone Elastomeric Coating.

Due to VOC restrictions, EnergyGuard® Butyl Elastomeric Coating and EnergyGuard® Silicone Elastomeric Coating can’t be shipped to California. Please use our EnergyMax® Silicone Elastomeric Coating instead.

Built Up Roof Coating

• EnergyGuard® Acrylic Elastomeric Coating is a good choice if your smooth built up roof is properly sloped and does not pond water.
• EnergyGuard® Butyl Elastomeric Coating is excellent for smooth built up roofs with minor ponding that cannot be rectified. Larger ponds should be corrected or area drains need to be installed.
