Butyl Roof Coating

Butyl rubber roof coatings are excellent for restoring mildly rusted metal roofs and as a vapor barrier for sprayed polyurethane foam over cold storage buildings.

Limitations

Butyl coatings have high Volatile Organic Content which makes it unsuitable for low VOC states like California. It also costs more per square foot since it has a much lower solid content than other coating types.
